Silver Fern

According to Māori Legend the Silver Fern was asked to come in from the sea and live in the forest to guide the people. Māori hunters & warriors used the silver underside of the fern leaves to reflect the moonlight, illuminating a path through the forest. Today the Silver Fern embodies everything that is good about New Zealand. It is a symbol that every New Zealander has a connection with and is worn as a badge of honour by our top athletes.
